The Federal Government is getting stricter on contractors in the area of compliance and imposing steeper fines and penalties for failure to comply with procurement regulations. The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) operates under the authority of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller)/Chief Financial Officer. The Agency’s primary function is to conduct contract audits and related financial services for the Department of Defense and other federal entities responsible for acquisition and contract administration. DCAA helps determine whether costs are allowable, allocable, and reasonable per the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). DCAA provides recommendations to government officials on contractor costs for specific products and services. DCAA takes an approach that focuses on the highest level of payback to DoD and taxpayers.
